ALLIANCE - A. Earle Ireland, 100, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at Britthaven
of Pamlico. He was born Dec. 9, 1907, son of the late Malachi Emory 
Ireland and Eva McCotter Ireland.  
Mr. Ireland was a retired farmer and was a charter member of Alliance 
United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday school 
superintendent, and trustee.  
He was a member of Bayboro Masonic Lodge #331 for over 60 years and a 
member of the Eastern Star and Triangle Fire Department. He was on the 
original board of directors of the N.C. Soybean Producers Association; an
original member of the board of commissioners for the Town of Alliance, a 
former Boy Scout leader, Pamlico County representative of the John Motley 
Morehead Scholarship Foundation, and an alumnus of the University of North 
Carolina.  
He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Rosebud W. Ireland, on June 13, 
2000. 
He is survived by a sister, Thelma Spencer of Alliance, and several loving 
nieces and nephews.  
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with 
the Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf 
Memorial Park in New Bern. 
The family will receive friends at Bryant Funeral Home between 6 and 8 
p.m. Friday and other times at the home of Jimmy and Julia Spencer, 82 
Mill Pond Road in Alliance.
