GRIFTON - Deacon Alfonza Driggers, Sr., 71, of 286 Contentnea Dr., died
Friday, August 1, 2003 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 8, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.
at River of Life Christian Center, 301 North Secrest St., Kinston, NC.
Interment will follow in Live Oak Church Cemetery, Grifton, NC. Deacon
Driggers was born and reared in Pamlico County and attended the county
schools. He was employed by and retired from Pitt County Schools.
He was a member of Live Oak FWB Church, where he served as a Deacon
and Trustee of the church.
He is survived by his foster mother, Lydia Bell Daniel of Grifton, NC; his
wife, Maddie Marie Driggers of the home; three sons, Alfonza (Fonz)
Driggers Jr. of Grifton, NC, Karl S. Driggers of Ayden, NC and Julius R.
Driggers of Alexandria, VA; four daughters, Carolyn E. Gooding and Betty
J. Powell, both of Fort Washington, MD, Shirlene Mobley of Grifton, NC
and Senia Marie Tucker of White Plains, MD; two brothers, Harold (Collie)
Driggers of Vandemere, NC and Benjamin Driggers of Tampa, FL; two sisters,
Althea Ward of Vanceboro, NC and Senia Monk of Bayboro, NC; 12
grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2003 from 2-5 p.m. at Don
Brown Funeral Home and from 6-8 p.m. at Live Oak FWB Church.
