Goose Creek Island, NC July 26th, 1877
Elder P.D. Gold:--
Please insert in the Landmark the following notice of death of my little
daughter-Alice Y Spain-Born Nov 4, 1873, died Oct 10th, 1876-aged 2 years,
11 months and 6 days. She was a goodly child and dear to us both. She was our
oldest and most precious one; though, like many others, she was called home 
to dwell in heaven above. We feel to hope she is now numbered with the blest,
and we feel that the all-wise God of heaven can do better by her than we
could, though we fell loth to part with her. We have a hope that the Lord
may so work in us to will and to do of his good pleasure that we may, when
our race is run, reach that glorious and happy land where parting is no more.
