ORIENTAL - Alton Francis Jones, 70, of 116 Town Road, died Tuesday, June 7,
2005, at Craven Regional Medical Center.  
He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from NARF, Cherry Point. He was a 
member of Pierce Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, attending Sunday school, 
prayer service and Bible study. He also sang with the Male Chorus and 
helped with the beautification of the church grounds. 
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pierce Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with 
the Rev. James Cannon Jr. officiating.  
Burial will be in Hodges Family Cemetery, Oriental.  
He is survived by two sons, Gregory Jones of Vallejo, Calif. and Frankie 
Gibbs of Navarre, Fla.; three daughters, Cynthia Stewart of Alameda, 
Calif. and Avis J. Quarles and Cheryl Jones of Oriental; one brother, 
Luther Jones of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence.  
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar's Mortuary, New Bern,
and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
