Alvania Geneva "Mama" Fisher, 87, of Pleasantville, died Wednesday at
Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Division, in Galloway Township.
Mrs. Fisher worked as a private duty nursing assistant for the Sobel
family in Margate. Before that, she worked as a housekeeper for former
Ventnor Mayor Phillip Robinson and in the housekeeping department of
the Brigantine Hotel.
Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Atlantic
City, where she served as an usher, and a former member of the First
Baptist Church of Oriental, N.C. Born in Oriental, N.C., Mrs. Fisher
lived in the area since the 1980s.
Surviving are two daughters, Ida Campos and Sadie, both of Pleasantville;
one brother, the Rev. Robert Best of Atlantic City; and four sisters,
Virginia Mozelle, Julia Bryant and Pastor Arnetter Herring-Gammage, all
of Atlantic City, and Sudie Mozelle of Oriental, N.C.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, New
Road and Marple Avenue, Pleasantville.
Friends may call at the church two hours before the service.
Burial will be in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
Arrangements are by Mikal's Funeral Parlor, Atlantic City.
