Obituary of Amos Warren Phillips ~ 2005

ARAPAHOE, NC - Amos Warren Phillips, 85 years old, of 303 Indian Bluff 
Drive, Arapahoe, NC went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2005. 
He is predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Lois Hall 
Phillips.  Amos served in the US Navy from 1940 through 1960. 
He was also in the Civil Service for 20 years, followed by real estate for 
20 years. During this time he also co-owned Phillips House of Clocks with 
his brother, Murray Phillips. He was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of 
God Church.  
He is survived by his wife, Jean Hall Phillips; two sons, Amos Phillips, 
Jr. of Concord, NC and William "Billy" Phillips of Virginia Beach, Va.; 
and two daughters, Shirley P. Dawson and Karen Strickland, both of Virginia
Beach, Va. He has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 
He is also survived by two stepsons, Herman A. Turnage of Stafford, Va., 
and Dwight L. Turnage of Bayboro, NC and one stepdaughter, Vickie T. 
Sevenski of Bayboro, NC. He also has seven step-grandchildren and five 
step-great-grandchildren.  
He is also survived by his two brothers, Durant R. Phillips of Chesapeake, 
Va. And William "Bill" Phillips Latham of Conway, SC; and three sisters, 
Susan Elizabeth Daugherty of New Bern, NC, Mary Grace P. Willis of Vidor, 
Texas and Betty Lou Davis of Fayetteville, NC.  
A funeral service was held at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church on 
Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 2:00 pm. Burial followed at New Bern Memorial 
Cemetery.  
The family received friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Friday evening, March 
25 at the funeral home.
