BAYBORO - Annie Johnson Squires, 101, of 1746 Lynch's Beach Road, the 
Maribel community, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at Britthaven of Pamlico.
She was a lifetime resident of Pamlico County and a member of St. James 
AME Zion Church in Vandemere, where she served as a pianist for 50 years, 
a choir member and Mother of the church.
Her funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at New Bern 
Eastern Missionary Baptist Association Headquarters, 885 N.C. 306 north, 
Grantsboro, with the Rev. Nathan Morris officiat-ing. The burial will 
follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Maribel.
She is survived by her children, Perrelia Parker and Ann Marie Midgette, 
both of the Maribel Community, Edward Earl Squires of Fayetteville, Louise 
Jenkins and Otis Squires Jr., both of Hampton, Va., James McArthur Squires 
of South Dakota, and Fred Chester Squires of Orange, N.J.; three sisters, 
Louise McDaniel of Brooklyn, N.Y., Bonnie Lee Clarkson of New Bern and 
Mary Cooper of Conyers, Ga.; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 55 
great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from 10 
a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Oscar's Mortuary.
