Obituary of Annie Cooper Stokes ~ 2007

MERRITT - Annie Cooper Stokes, 76, of 769 Whortonsville Road, died Monday, 
Sept. 10, 2007, at Craven Regional Medical Center.  
She was a member of Zion Hill Christian Church and served as financial 
secretary. She was formerly employed by the Pamlico County school system 
as a teacher’s assistant.  
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Christian Church in 
the Florence community with the Rev. James Ingram officiating.  
Burial will be in St. Mark Church cemetery.  
She is survived by her husband, Von Stokes of the home; three sons, Vaughn 
Stokes of Monterey, Calif., Vince Stokes of Clinton, S.C., and Joel 
Stokes of Greenville; two daughters, Catrina Simmons of Raeford and 
Cozzetta Caldwell of Hillsborough; two brothers, Dalton Cooper of the 
Florence community, and John Mattocks of Warner Robbins, Ga.; one sister, 
Georgia Georges of Baldwin, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence.  
Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Oscar’s Mortuary, New 
Bern, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
