Obituary of Ann Murphy Whorton ~ 2007

MERRITT - Ann Murphy Whorton, 71, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at Craven 
Regional Medical Center.  
She was a member of Concord Christian Church, Christian Women’s 
Fellowship, acting treasurer of the Sunday School and a former Sunday 
School teacher.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Whorton; parents, 
Leslie and Lida Murphy; and a brother, Jackie Bryant Murphy.  
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Concord Christian Church with 
Dr. Robert Cayton officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Memorial 
Gardens.  
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Spencer and husband, Sammy, of 
Merritt; one brother, Leslie “L.B.” Murphy of Four Oaks; one sister, 
Sadie Riddick and husband, Richard, of Merritt; and one granddaughter, 
Kelly Lynn Spencer.  
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight and other times at 
the home of her sister, Sadie Riddick, 984 Murphy Farm Road.
