GRANTSBORO - Bernard "Barney" Tingle, 72, of Grantsboro died Friday, March 
11, 2011 at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was a member of Rainbow Masonic Lodge #479, Sudan Temple and Pamlico 
County Shrine Club. He was also a member of Word Fellowship Church in 
Reelsboro as well as a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood 
Electrical Workers Local 495.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Margie Harper Tingle; 
granddaughter, Michelle Tingle; and loving rat terrier companion, Junior.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Swinson Tingle of Grantsboro; son, Bernard 
"B.J." Tingle and wife, Katie, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Laurie 
T. Bennett and husband, Steve, of Reelsboro; brother, Billy S. Tingle of 
New Bern; two sisters, Caroline Willis and Mary Ball, both of Raleigh; 
five grandchildren, Steven Bennett Jr., Christopher Bennett, Nicole Smith 
Tingle, Jack Tingle, and Leyla Tingle; and four great-grandchildren, 
Cadence Bennett, Steven Bennett III, Chase Bennett and Catelynne Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 14, at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Owen Lupton officiating. Interment will 
follow in Sandhill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday at the 
funeral home.  Arrangements by Bryant Funeral Home & Crematory, Alliance.
