Bertha Daniels DuVal, 91, died in Sentara Nursing Home on July 11, 2004.
Born June 18, 1913, in Pamlico County, N.C., she was the widow of James M. 
DuVal, Sr. having been married for 64 years. She was a member of Indian 
River Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, James M. DuVal, Jr.; 
four grandchildren, Sharon L. Everton and husband Roger of Chesapeake, 
Patricia A. McLawhorn and husband David of Elizabeth City, N.C., Melynda 
D. DuVal of Norfolk and J. Marshall DuVal, III and his fiancee Rhonda Real 
of Chesapeake; two great-grandchildren, Ryan K. Everton of Chesapeake and 
Ashley R. McLawhorn of Elizabeth City; and her dear friend, "Angie" of 
Chesapeake. She was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia DuVal Baker.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Rosewood Memorial 
Park. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling 
arrangements.
