Obituary of Bettie P. Hardison Freeman Lupton Rice ~ 2005

ARAPAHOE - Bettie Rice, 81, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at her home.
She was a member of Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church where she was a
Sunday School teacher and held various offices including past treasurer.
She was an avid reader and walker. She retired from Cherry Point with more
than 30 years service, where she received numerous commendations for
excellent service.
Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her three husbands, John B. Freeman, Sr.,
Ervin Earlie Lupton and William B. Rice, Sr.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23 at Arapahoe
Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Bulla officiating. Burial was
in the Tingle Cemetery.
The family received friends at Bryant Funeral Home on Friday prior to the
Saturday funeral from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
She is survived by one son, John B. Freeman and wife, Carolyn, of
Greenville; one daughter, Betty F. Avery and husband, Earnest, of
Waynesboro, VA; three grandchildren, Dr. Kenneth Avery and wife, Rhonda,
Jeff Avery and wife, Debbie, and Heather F. Cribb and husband, David; five
great-grandchildren, Jacob Avery, Joshua Avery, Bethany Avery, Leah Avery
and Blake Cribb; two brothers, David Hardison and wife, Elizabeth, of Falls
Church, VA and Albert Hardison and wife, Dorothy, of New Bern. In addition,
she has six step-children, William B. Rice, Jr., Douglas Rice, Peggy Rice,
Kerry Lupton, Jo Ann L. Piner and Gayle L. Campbell.
