Obituary of Robert "Bob" Joseph Schmidt ~ 2011

MERRITT - Robert "Bob" Joseph Schmidt, 73, died Wednesday, February 9, 
2011 at home.
He was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. He was also a 
member of the Oriental Rotary Club and Caring Carpenters of Pamlico 
County. He was active with PAWS and was a Spanish interpreter for Hope 
Clinic. He was also a consultant with Drug Free America. He wrote the 
"Manual of Standards" for U.S. prisons.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Schmidt of the home; three sons, Robert 
Schmidt and wife, Caren, of New Jersey, Dale Schmidt of Delaware and Toby 
Schmidt and wife, Marcia, of Texas; two daughters, Beth North and husband, 
Harry, of Montana and Paula Schmidt of Alaska; two sisters, Karla Stukey 
and husband, Mervin, of Arizona and Donnie Thomas and husband, Ed, of 
Florida; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 
St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jeremiah Day officiating.
A visitation and vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night at St. Thomas 
Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions be made to 
Pamlico Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 888, Oriental, NC 28571.
