Obituary of Charles Atmore Jones ~ 2005

RALEIGH - Charles Atmore Jones entered into the hands of his Heavenly 
Father on Monday, September 12, 2005. 
He was the son of Nancy Elizabeth and Charlie Atmore Jones. 
He was born on June 14, 1916 in Mesic, Pamlico County, NC.  
He is survived by his son, Charles Atmore Jones, Jr. and grandson, Austin 
Chase Jones, both of Wilmington, NC.  
He was predeceased in death by his wife Julia, on Jan. 16, 2005 and his 
son, Robert on March 16, 2005. 
He also was predeceased by his two sisters, Dorothy Garner Vickers and 
Mildred Pisacreta.  
Mr. Jones had been a resident of Morehead City since 1980. Prior to his 
move to Morehead City, he was manager of the original Char Grill on 
Hillsborough St., and The Blue Tower Restaurant, in Raleigh.  
He was a veteran of World War II. He was a life long Mason, and as well as 
being a member of Ocean Lodge 405 in Morehead City, he was an honorary 
member of nine other Lodges. He was a member of the Sudan Shriners of New 
Bern, NC.  
Since the loss of his wife and son Mr. Jones had made his home with his 
niece and her husband, Nancy and Keith Ledford of Raleigh. 
In addition to Nancy he is also survived by two other nieces, Katherine 
Renn and Anne Scott.  
A Masonic memorial service will be held for Mr. Jones in Morehead City on 
Saturday, Sept. 17th, at Brooks Funeral Home, starting at noon.  
Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 
Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC or to the Masonic Home for Children, 
Oxford, NC.
