LOWLAND - Charles Hughes Morris, 92, died September 24, 2011, from natural
causes with his family at his side.
Mr. Morris was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Pamlico County to Leona R. and
Charles A. Morris.
Mr. Morris spent over 70 years as a commercial fisherman.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Morris formerly of
Havelock, and sisters, Ruth Harris of Lowland, and Helen Witty of
California.
He is survived by his son, Jerry A. Morris and spouse, Bettie, of
Louisburg; two granddaughters, Neisha Holley and Kirsten Biddix; three
step-granddaughters, Robyn Hines, Nicole Stinnett, and Kimberly Creech;
four great grandchildren, and five step-great grandchildren; two special
nieces and a nephew and their spouses, Alice and Art Keeney of Englehart
and Sarah Mae and Jake Kilpatrick of Washington state, and Hugh Jr., and
Susan Morris of Ashville; and dear to him, Ms. Sandra Morris of Durham.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, at
Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Carawan officiating.
Interment will follow immediately in Sandhill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the
funeral home.
