Charlotte Lee Moore, former resident of Bayboro, NC, departed this life
peacefully with her loved ones at her side on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at
Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovie and John Lee, her husband,
Lenwood R. Moore, and her son, Lenwood J. Moore.
Charlotte enjoyed a wonderful 40-year career as an educator in North
Carolina (Pamlico County) public school systems. She was recognized as
being one of the first African-American teachers who taught during the
initial desegregation of the Pamlico County School system.
Until recently, she had been an active member of the North Carolina

organization. She retired in 1976, but never stopped teaching or caring
for others.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in
Stonewall, NC where she was a Mother of the church and involved in many
church activities and clubs. In 1999, when her health began to fail, she
relocated to Bowie, MD to live with and be cared for by her daughter and
grandchildren. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Joyce
Patricia and Larry McCormick of Bowie, MD; grandchildren, Charlotte Denise
Moore of Bowie, MD, Charles Ronald Trotman Jr. of Bowie, MD and Lenwood J.
Moore, Jr. of New Bern, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Jazmine Trotman of
Bowie, MD; beloved nephews and niece that she regarded as her own children,
Robert Long of Piscataway, NJ, Emma Smith of Brooklyn, NY, and the Rev.
Lenwood Long of Wake Forest, NC; and a multitude of other relatives and
friends.
The viewing and funeral services took place on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at
New Southern Rock Baptist Church, 750 Buchanan St., NW, Washington, DC.
The Rev. Dr. Rudolph White was the officiating pastor. Interment and
burial followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Washington, DC.
