Obituary of Constance Lee Jones Tate ~ 2000

Constance Lee Jones Tate, known as Connie, formerly of Lakeside and Henrico
County, and then Bumpass in Louisa County, died April 26, 2000 in Potomac, 
Maryland of complications from pneumonia and Alzheimer's Disease. 
She was 92 years old. 
Mrs. Tate was born in the town of Roper in Pamlico County, N.C. on July 28,
1907, a twin and one of six daughters to O'Connor Lee Jones and Susan 
Frances Linton.
She was raised and educated in Vandemere and Greenville, N.C. After high 
school, she attended business school in Richmond, where she met her future 
husband, James Theodore Tate, whom she married on March 18, 1933. They 
were married over 50 years at the time of his death in 1983. He had 
retired from the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. Mrs. Tate resided at the 
Manor Care Alzheimer's Facility, Arden Court, in Potomac, Maryland, during 
her last year. 
She is survived by her daughter, Eva Frances Hayes of Chesterfield County; 
her son, James Theodore Tate Jr. of Potomac, Maryland; and her son, Edward 
O'Connor Tate of Albemarle County; her sister, Freddie Jones Dean of 
Winchester, Va.; her sister-in-law, Catherine C. Tate of Richmond; nine 
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many more loved nieces, nephews,
and their children around the country. 
Mrs. Tate was known among her large and extended family as a loving 
caregiver. 
Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw 
Ave., where the family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 
where services will beheld at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30. 
Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa at 3:30 p.m.
