Obituary of Curtis Randolph Ormond Sr ~ 2011

NEW BERN - Curtis Randolph Ormond Sr., also known as "Dit," passed 
peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 11, 2011, surrounded by his family. 
Born in Pamlico County on November 16, 1930, he lived most of his life in 
New Bern. Randolph worked in the trucking business with his father, 
brothers, and son before retirement. He was a builder, a gardener, and a 
beekeeper. He was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. He will 
be remembered for his integrity, determination, and subtle sense of humor.
Randolph was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Melba Ormond; 
his brothers, William (Billy) and Rayfield Ormond; and sister, Katie Pearl.
Randolph is survived by his beloved wife, the former Louise Atkinson. 
Randolph and Louise celebrated 59 years of marriage on Christmas Day; his 
son, Randy and wife, Julie; his daughter Debbie Zang and husband, Ross; 
his three grandchildren, Matthew and Alisha Zang, and Meghan Ormond; and 
one great-granddaughter, Cloey Sanders, all of New Bern.
To cherish his memory, he is also survived by a special brother-in-law, 
Frank Atkinson; sister-in-laws, Katy Atkinson, Hazel Atkinson, Peggy 
Ormond and Audrey Ormond; also, many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and 
friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of Louise Ormond, 1330 N.C. 55 
West, New Bern.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 
Beech Grove United Methodist Church, 1037 Washington Post Road, New Bern.
Arrangements are by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory.
