REELSBORO - Dalton Cooper Sr., 82, of 378 Longleaf Drive, died Thursday,
Oct. 14, 2010, at Britthaven of Pamlico.
He was a native of the Florence community of Pamlico County and a member of
Zion Hill Christian Church. His ministries included serving as an ordained
deacon, senior choir member and superintendent of Sunday school. He was
formerly employed with General Wholesale and was a retiree of Coca-Cola
Bottling Company after 32 years of employment. His community service was
as the captain of the Florence-Whortonsville Fire Dept.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Bern Eastern M.B. Association
Headquarters with the Rev. James Ingram officiating. The burial will be in
the Jones Family Cemetery in Florence.
He is survived by his wife, Siddie Stokes Cooper of the home; two sons,
Larry Cooper of Cove City and Gary Cooper of Reelsboro; three daughters,
Carolyn Cooper of Reelsboro, Cheryl Harris of Havelock and Felicia Cooper
of New Bern; one brother, John Thomas Mattocks of Georgia and Georgia M.
Georges of New York, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from
9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Oscar's Mortuary.
