Daniel J. Squires, Sr. died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Durham Regional 
Hospital.  
He was a native of the Florence community of Pamlico County and was pastor 
of Broad Creek United Church of Christ in Oriental.  
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Calvary United Church of 
Christ, 1517 Athens St., Durham. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial 
Garden.  
He is survived by his wife, Josephine J. Squires; three sons, Ennis L. 
Squires, Daniel J. Squies Jr. and Calvin D. Squires; one daughter, Janice 
F. Squires; five sisters, Helen Garrison of Bayboro and Oneida McGhee, 
Audrey Johnson, Wilhelminia Howe and Alice Daniel.
