David John Johnson, 57, of Florence died, Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Pitt 
County Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. 
He was a member of Florence-Whortonsville Vol. Fire Department, Station #25. 
He is survived by his wife, Lorelei J. Johnson; his children, Gary M. 
Cave, Phillip M. Cave, Jennifer M. Cave, Sherry L. Hale and David J. 
Johnson Jr.; his grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Gracelynn, Wrayne, Skylla, 
Jonathan, Lucas, Joshua, Alexus, Nina and Jeremiah; his mother, Gwendolyn 
Zimmerman; and his brothers, Charley Johnson, Jack Stoner and Bill 
Johnson. 
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 31 at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Taylor officiating. 
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to 
American Cancer Society, Pamlico County Relay for Life, 930-B Wellness 
Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.
