GRANTSBORO – Mr. David Earl Lewis, 53, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at Craven 
Regional Medical Center. 
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel. 
Burial will be in Sand-hill Cemetery in Reelsboro. He was a member of 
Reelsboro United Methodist Church for more than 25 years, where he had 
served on numerous committees and was Sunday school superintendent.  
He worked for Carolina Telephone & Telegraph and Sprint for 33 years. 
He was past fire chief of Grantsboro-Silver Hill Fire Department and was 
its president. He was an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster for 25 years. He was 
also a former board member of Pamlico County Rescue Squad.  Mr. Lewis 
served his country in the U.S. Army and was part of the 82nd Airborne 
paratroopers.  
He is survived by his wife, Kay Edwards Lewis; a son, Travis Lewis and 
wife, Jennifer, of Ayden; a daughter, Tiffany Lupton and husband, Joe, of 
Florence; his parents, Hiram and Ola Lewis of Hobucken; paternal 
grandmother, Florence Ives Lewis of Hobucken; a brother, Donald Lewis of 
Grantsboro; two sisters, Iris Bennett of Reelsboro and Irma Lewis of 
Arapahoe; and a grandchild, Jordan Lupton.  
The family will receive friends at Bryant Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. 
Wednesday.  
Flowers are welcome, but those who prefer may make donations in his memory 
to the American Cancer Society, 1021-B Red Banks Road, Greenville, NC 
27858.
