NEW BERN - Donald "Billy" William Dixon at age 87 went to be with our Lord 
and Savior on Friday evening February 3, 2012 in his home.
Born in Pamlico County, North Carolina, Billy is preceded in death by his 
father, Herbert Dixon; mother, Carrie B. Dixon; step-mother, Minnie D. 
Dixon; brother, Glenwood Dixon; sister-in-law, Mary Dixon; and step-
brothers, Duval and Leston Lee.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned and graduated 
from East Carolina in 1949.
Upon retiring from the N.C. Dept. of Revenue he joined his wife, Mollie, in
operating Dixon's Soda Shop, an icon, located in downtown New Bern.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mollie H. Dixon; son, Dorian and 
wife Sherri Dixon, of High Point; daughter, Aletta and husband, Wayne Brown 
of New Bern; grandchildren, Tyler Dixon and wife, Katherine; Trevor Dixon, 
Bryson Brown and Tanner Brown; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Chapel on 
Monday, February 6 at 5:00 p.m. with Dr. Steven Fitzgerald officiating. 
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., 
just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist 
Church of New Bern, 239 Middle Street, New Bern, N.C. 28560.
