Doris Monk "Dee" Head, 67, of Philadelphia, formerly of Bayboro, died
Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at her residence. She was a member of Canaan
Baptist Church, Philadelphia, and St. Mark AME Zion Church, Bayboro. She
was a graduate of Pamlico County Training School and Shaw Univeristy. She
was an educator in the Pennsylvania and North Carolina schools for 41
years. The funeral will be Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. in St. Mark
AME Zion Church, Bayboro, with the Rev. Bobby L. Simmons officiating.
Burial will follow the service in the Lindsey-Monk family cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Head of the home; two sons, Derrick
Head of Bowie, Md., and Dexter Head of Philadelphia; six grandchildren;
three brothers, Ellis Monk of Anniston, Ala., Larry Monk and Ralph Monk,
both of Stonewall; and one sister, Grace Thompson of Edmond, Okla.
Viewing will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rivers-Morgan Funeral
Home, 701 West Street, and on Sunday at the church, one hour prior to the
service.
Arrangements are by Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, New Bern.
