RALEIGH - Dorothy J. Vickers of Raleigh, died peacefully in her sleep on 
Christmas morning.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl S. Vickers, Jr. who died on 
Christmas Day, 1987. Mrs. Vickers was born on September 1, 1917 in Pamlico 
County, NC. 
She was the daughter of Nancy Potter Jones and Charles Atmore Jones.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy A. Ledford and Katherine (Kitty) 
E. Remm, of Raleigh, and Anne G. Scott of Cary. 
Other survivors include her sister, Mildred J. Pisacrete of Cary and her 
brother, Charles A. Jones of Morehead City. 
She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Ellen V. Holzgrefe of LaFayette, 
IN; her step-son, Jon Vickers of Winston-Salem; 13 grandchildren; 21 great 
grandchildren; and two nephews.  
One grandson preceded in death. 
Mrs. Vickers remains will be entombed with her late husband at Salem 
Cemetery in Winston-Salem, on January 31, 2004. 
Graveside service to be held at 1 p.m.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Brunswick Community College 
Foundation Scholarship Fund for Karl S. Vickers, Jr. Mrs. Vickers 
established this fund in honor of Mr. Vickers, at the time of his death.
