Obituary of Eddie M Martin ~ 1996

NEWPORT NEWS - Eddie M. Martin, 85, died Thursday, March 21, 1996. 
He was a native of Pamlico County, N.C., and had been a Peninsula resident 
for 62 years.  Mr. Martin was a fire inspector for Newport News 
Shipbuilding, having retired in 1971 after 33 years of service. After his 
retirement he worked for 11 years with Tidewater AAA insurance. He 
attended Warwick Assembly of God and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.  
Survivors include his wife, Doris E. Martin; two sons, Edward E. Martin 
of Hampton and Paul W. Martin of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Carol M. 
Hayes of Yorktown and Esther M. Moeckl of Richmond; two sisters, Doris 
Gower of Chesapeake and Ida Moore of Grantsboro, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 
six great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-
grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the W.J. Smith 
& Son Funeral Home.  
A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Warwick Assembly of God with 
the Rev. Jack E. Sallie officiating, assisted by the Rev. Don Rogers. 
Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Newport News, Va. 23601.
