Obituary of Elena Mae Cooper Jones ~ 2007

GRANTSBORO - Elena Mae Cooper Jones, 106, of 290 Keel Road, died Sunday, 
June 10, 2007, at Britthaven of Pamlico.  
She was a native of the Florence/Whortonsville community of Pamlico County.
She was a member of Zion Hill United Church of Christ and served as the 
oldest mother, former Sunday school teacher and member of the home 
missions.  
Funeral will be noon Thursday at Zion Hill United Church of Christ with 
the Rev. James Ingram officiating.  
Burial will be in Jones Family Cemetery.  
She is survived by one son, Alden Lewis Jones of New Bern; three daughters,
Sybil Wilson of New Bern, Josephine Squires of Durham and Rebecca A. 
Harlan of Atwater, Calif.; one sister, Lillie C. Green of New Bern; 36 
grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; 63 great-great-grandchildren; and 
three great-great-great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence.  
Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Oscar’s Mortuary, New Bern,
and one hour prior to the service at the church.
