GRANTSBORO - Elsie Dixon Hankins, 77, of 2116 Scott Store Road, died 
Tuesday, July 1 at Craven Regional Medical Center. 
A graveside service was held Thursday, July 3, 2 pm, in Pinewood Memorial 
Park in Greenville with the Rev. Graham Lane officiating.  
She was a member of New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church and a member of 
the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary.  
She is survived by two sons, Jack Hankins of Charlotte and Kenneth Hankins 
of Brierfield, AL; one daughter, Lana Pat Fink of Sarasota, FL; one sister,
Lucille Malone of Grantsboro; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 
and long time companion, James Watson of New Bern.
