NEW BERN - Emily Brinson, 70, of New Bern passed away Saturday, January 14,
2012, at Two Rivers Nursing Facility-Neuse Campus.
She was born July 30, 1941, near Baird's Creek. Emily graduated from 
Pamlico County High School in 1959, received her degree in Elementary 
Education from East Carolina College in 1963 and her Masters in Elementary 
Education from East Carolina University in 1984. She taught Kindergarten 
and First Grade in Virginia Beach, Va, Charleston, S.C., Raleigh, and 
Havelock, retiring in 1995. She was a resident of Trent Woods since 1979. 
She was a member of Amity Christian Church in Grantsboro.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Bledsoe and Mary Scott 
Brinson; brother, Rufus B. Brinson, Jr.; and niece, Barbara Roberts.
She is survived and much loved by two brothers, Alfred C. Brinson and wife,
Norma, of Greenville and Mack Scott Brinson and wife, Shirley, of San Diego, 
Calif.; sister, Delta Brinson Roberts of New Bern; nephews, Lt. Col. James 
D. "Doug" Brinson, Thaddius R. Roberts, Kevin M. Roberts and Mack S. 
Brinson, Jr.; nieces, Kathleen Brinson Fountain, Laura Brinson Temple and 
Debra Brinson; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held 2 at p.m., Monday, January 16 at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Merritt Watson officiating. Interment 
will follow immediately in Amity Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service
at the funeral home.
