Emma Cooper Gaskins, 71, of 6360 Florence Road, Pamlico Community of 
Merritt, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was a graduate of the Pamlico County school system and earned her CNA 
certification from Pamlico Community College. She was a retiree of 
Britthaven of Pamlico and was active in the Foster Grandparent Program. As 
a member of St. Mark Free Will Baptist Church, she served as an usher and 
choir member.  
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at The New Bern 
Eastern Association Headquarters, Highway 306N, Grantsboro, with the Rev. 
Kelly Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark UFWB Church Cemetery, 
Florence. 
She is survived by her one son, Robert Gaskins of Merritt; one daughter, 
Felicia Credle of Virginia Beach, Va.; six brothers, Harold Cooper of 
Edwards, N.C., James H. Cooper Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., Herbert D. Cooper of 
Florence, Truman Cooper of Jersey City, N.J., Edward Cooper of Florence, 
Jahue Cooper of Queens, N.Y.; five sisters, Beaulah Daniels of Philadelphia, 
Pa., Bernice Green of Oriental, N.C., Reva L. Cooper of Norfolk, Va., 
Hilda Thomas of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Rachel Alston of Florence; four 
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be Wednesday
from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Oscar's Mortuary and at the church an hour prior 
to the service.  Arrangements by Oscar's Mortuary.
