Evelyn Sawyer Morse, age 91, of Havelock, died Monday March 13, 2006, at
Craven Regional Medical Center.
Evelyn was born December 24, 1914, in the vicinity of Oriental, N.C.
Her parents were the late Jesse Sawyer and Cora Spruill Sawyer.
She graduated from Oriental High School and attended East Carolina Teachers
College, and retired from Civil Service at MCAS Cherry Point in March 1973
after 30 years of service.
She was predeceased by her husband, Darrell W. Morse, in 1977; and her
three sisters, Anne Sawyer of New Bern, Virginia Mason of Oriental and
Jessie O’Neal of Raleigh. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jo
Ann and Kenneth Simpson of Milton Fla., George Mason and Charlotte of

was treasurer for over 34 years, and was a volunteer as a Gray Lady at
Craven Regional Medical Center for over 20 years. She was a member of the
Lions Club since 1977. Her major pastime was making items for the annual
church bazaar and visiting her family and friends. When you think of her
birth and death, the thing that mattered most was the dash between those
years.
