Florence Bell Flagler, daughter of the late Ezerial and Sidney Augustus
Bell was born in Bayboro.
After a long illness at the I.H.S. Nursing Home, she slowly and silently
faded away on February 17, 2000, at 5:15 p.m. at Duke University Medical
Center. Florence obtained her early education through the Pamlico County
school system, she attended Fayetteville State Teachers College
(Fayetteville State University), and she graduated from De Shazas Beauty
College. During her early childhood, she confessed Christ and joined the
St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Bayboro. After moving to Durham, she became
affiliated with the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church.
She was united in holy wedlock to Mr. Mackie Flagler in Dillon, S.C. They
shared many memories together. She was a good mother, neighbor, and friend
to many. One son preceded her in death, James S. 'Jim' Bell. Three sisters
preceded her in death, Mable Cradle and Thelma Primes, of Brooklyn, N.C.,
and Sadie Barbee, of Washington. D.C. She was a devoted domestic worker
for Mr. and Mrs. Couch for many years until she retired to take care of
her husband, who had a stroke.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Mackie Flagler;
two brothers, Horace Bell, of Morehead City, and William Harrison Bell,
of New Bern; step-daughter, Floretha Tisdale McClary, of Kingstree, S.C.;
granddaughters Debora D. Brown, of Charlotte, and Dee, Tara, and Tawanda
Tisdale, of Kingstree, S.C.; grandson, Mackie Tisdale; one great-grandson,

Tisdale, Thomasenia Armstrong, Vinia Owens, and Francenia (James) Fulton,
