Obituary of Frank J Woodard ~ 1993

Frank J. Woodard, 77, a retired assistant circulation manager of The 
Washington Post and a past president of the Silver Spring Lions Club, died 
Aug. 8 at Montgomery General Hospital. 
He had myelofibrosis, a disease of the bone marrow.  
A resident of Leisure World in Silver Spring and of Siesta Key, Fla., Mr. 
Woodard was born in Bayboro, N.C.  
Mr. Woodard attended Emory University, George Washington University and the
National University Law School, which is now part of GWU.  
He moved to the Washington area in 1938, and he went to work at The Post 
in 1940.  
He was assistant circulation manager when he retired in 1978. He moved to 
Siesta Key in 1980 but spent summers at his residence in Leisure World.  
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Hope Elizabeth Woodard of Silver 
Spring; four children, Stephen Woodard of Olney, Barry Woodard of St. 
Simons Island, Ga., and Donald and Cynthia Woodard, both of North Potomac; 
a sister, Doris Prescott of New Bern, N.C.; four brothers, Victor and 
Vernon Woodard, both of New Bern, Thomas Woodard of Richmond and Paul 
Woodard of Stuart, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
