Obituary of Furman Clen Gibbs ~ 2008

Furman Clen Gibbs, 77, of 101 South St., Bayboro, died Thursday, March 27, 
2008, at home.  
He was a member of Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a 
deacon. He had been retired from the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He also 
worked for Texas Gulf for 16 years. He served as a chaplain for the VFW. 
He also served on the veterans' council and was a member and volunteer of 
the senior services. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence M. and Ola Blanch Gibbs 
of Bayboro, and a brother, Lawrence Gibbs Jr.   
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Bayboro 
Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Fitzgerald officiating. 
Interment will follow immediately in Cowell Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at 
Bryant Funeral Home.  
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Gibbs; three daughters, 
Gladys Coatney and husband, James, of Allen, Texas, Susan Paul of 
Greenville, N.C., Pamela Pegram and fiance David Millis, of New Bern; a 
special niece, Lana Nobles and husband, Carl, of Spring Garden; a 
special nephew, Roy Earl Radcliff and wife, Ellen, of Texas; sister, Belva 
Radcliff of Bayboro; four grandchildren, Furman McGreger, Timothy McGreger,
Elizabeth Pegram and Donna Jo Pegram; and four great-grandchildren, Connor,
Sofia, Aidan, and Kaitlin McGreger.
