Obituary of George D. Hardy ~ 1980

George D. Hardy, 67, who retired in 1973 as a meat market manager for the 
ACME supermarkets in this area, died Thursday at Mary Washington Hospital 
in Fredericksburg, Va., after a stroke. 
A former resident of Arlington, he had moved to Colonial Beach, Va., seven 
years ago. Mr. Hardy was born in Oriental, N.C., and grew up in New Bern, 
N.C. He joined ACME after moving here in 1930, and worked at a number of 
its stores in this area over the years.  
A former member of Mount Olivet Methodist Church in Arlington, he belonged 
to Colonial Beach Methodist Church and the Colonial Beach Lions Club.  
Survivors include his wife, Mary Blanche, of Colonial Beach; a son, James 
D., of Alexandria, and a brother, Walter, of Silver Spring.
