BAYBORO – George Smith, 76, of Bayboro died Thursday, April 8 at Craven 
Regional Medical Center. 
A funeral service has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 14, 2 pm, at 
Antioch United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Heath, pastor, 
officiating with burial in the Sawyer Cemetery.  
He is survived by his widow, Amanda Smith of the home; sons, Donald Smith, 
Johnny Smith, George Bryant and James Bryant, all of New Bern; daughters, 
Janet Smith, Virginia Smith and Bell Smith, all of Bayboro; brother, 
Elijah "Eli" Smith of New Bern; sister, Mary S. Roy of Philadelphia, PA; 
19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
