ARAPAHOE - Hazel Harper Dixon, 81, died Monday, February 3 at Craven 
Regional Medical Center. 
She was the daughter of the late Thaddeus C. Harper and Margie Lee Harper.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 
Major Miffin Dixon, and a sister, Laurice Sparks.  
She is survived by one sister, Velma Scott of Grantsboro; niece, Susie 
Banks of Arapahoe; nephew, Terry Scott and wife, Teresa, of Grantsboro; 
great-nieces, Vicki Prescott and husband, Bobby, of Arapahoe, Lisa Banks 
of New Bern; Teresa Cahoon and husband, Bobby, of Arapahoe and Selena 
Scott of Grantsboro; great nephew, Shawn Scott and wife, Lisa, of 
Grantsboro; five great-great nieces; and one great-great nephew.  
A funeral service was held at 11 am on Thursday, February 6 at Bryant 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Graham Lane officiating. Burial followed 
in New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.  
The family received friends from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, just prior 
to the service.
