Obituary of Herbert Guion Willis Jr ~ 2010

Herbert Guion Willis Jr., born July 31, 1919, of Minnesott Beach peacefully
departed this life to be with our Lord and his beloved Mary on July 25, 
2010.  
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ireland Willis; his 
parents, Herbert G. and Annie Banks Willis of Arapahoe; brothers, Russell 
and Guion Willis; sisters, Helen Belangia and Maxine Angel.  
He is survived by his son, Dennis S. and wife, Helen Willis, of Knoxville, 
Tenn.; grandchildren, Nancy Willis, Christine (William) Witt, and Dennis Jr. 
(Molly), all of Knoxville, and Susan (Steve) Fenn of Raleigh; 
11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  
As a result of a childhood accident at age 4, Herbert lost his left arm at 
the shoulder. 
He then proceeded to enjoy a full, long and wonderful life as one of the 
least handicapped persons the world has ever known.  
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at Bethany 
Christian Church, Arapahoe, with the Rev. Merritt Watson officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Banks Cemetery.  
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday night, at 
Bryant Funeral Home.  
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of 
Britthaven of Pamlico, for their love and care.
