Horace Earl "Slim" Tyndall, Sr., 87, of New Bern, died Sept. 7, 2008, at 
Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was born on May 1, 1921, in Pamlico County to Noah Allen Tyndall and 
Amanda Elizabeth Keel Tyndall.  Slim proudly served his country in the 
United States Army during WWII. He was a Civil Service employee at Cherry 
Point and retired after 33 years of service. He was an avid hunter and was 
a member of the Buck Hunting Club, Neals Creek Hunting Club, Sandhill 
Hunting Club, Forks of the Creek Hunting Club and Pitch Kettle Hunting 
Club.
Slim is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Ruby Haddock Tyndall of 
the home; one son, Horace F. Tyndall Jr. and two daughters, Joan T. Odham 
and Judy T. Forrest, all of New Bern; seven grandchildren, Dawn Odham 
Jones, Tammy Odham McCullough, Jeffery Thomas Odham, Russ E. Tyndall, 
Kevin L. Tyndall, Bobby L. Braxton, and Tracy L. Braxton; and six 
great-grandchildren, Brandon T. Jones, Christopher T. J. McCullough, 
Jonathan O.T. McCullough, Nicki K. Tyndall, Zack C. Tyndall and Ryan E. 
Tyndall.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at Greenleaf 
Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel. 
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
at Cotten Funeral Home.
