Hugh Dalton Rice, 79, of Grantsboro died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Craven 
Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in Bryant Funeral 
Home chapel with the Rev. Phillip Lewis officiating. Burial will be in 
Cayton Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Rice; three sons, Billy Barrett of Cedar 
Island, Robert Barrett of Vanceboro, and Jasper Powell of Grantsboro; two 
daughters, Janie Daniels of Reelsboro and Betty Powell of Grantsboro; one 
brother, Jesse Rice of Grantsboro; and several grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the funeral 
home chapel.
