Ida Bell Ollison, 84, of 310 Water St., died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 
INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, VA. 
A native of Pamlico County, she retired after 30 years as an elementary 
school teacher and served as a commissioner, Board of Education member and 
three terms as the first African-American female mayor of Bayboro.
Her funeral will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at New Bern 
Eastern M.B. Association Headquarters, 885 N.C. 306 North, Grantsboro. 
Burial will follow in the Bell Family Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Josephus Ollison Jr. of Annandale, Va.; 
brother, the Rev. Kenneth M. Bell Sr. of Bayboro; and sister, Della Bell 
Wilson of Dorchester, Mass.; two grandchildren; and five 
great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. 
Viewing will be at the mortuary from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Ritualistic services will be conducted 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at 
Green Hill M.B. Church by Bay Star Chapter No. 48.
