CHESAPEAKE - Jacqualyn Dowty Wright, 81, passed away Jan. 18, 2010 in
Ridgeland, Miss.
Born Jan. 7, 1929 in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Alexander
Smith Dowty and Eula Francis Scott Howell.
Jacqualyn was predeceased by her husband, Russell Raymond Wright, in 2006.
Jacqualyn graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in Northwest
Washington, D.C. in June 1947.
She attended Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., as
a young girl. As a young adult, she and her husband Russell, attended
Corcoran United Methodist Church in Temple Hills, Md.
She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and CIA between 1949 and 1954,
raised her family and then worked as a real estate agent in northern
Virginia until retiring in 1991.
She had an insatiable appetite and love of research for her family's
genealogy and enjoyed landscaping.
Jacqualyn is survived by her daughter, Debra W. Ferguson and her husband
Harry of Chesapeake; daughter, Patricia W. Shoemaker and her husband Jimmy
of Flora, Miss., and son Richard S. Wright and his wife Susan of Virginia
Beach; grandson, Andrew Gattsek and his wife Alesha of Chesapeake;
granddaughter, Lauren Robison and her husband Douglas of Twin Falls, Idaho;
grandson, Ashley Cerino of Virginia Beach; and granddaughter, Megan Cerino
of Virginia Beach; great- grandchildren, Andrew Blake Gattsek, Hayden
Gattsek and Riley Gattsek of Chesapeake, and Matthew Robison and Bailey
Robison of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Viewing is at 11 a.m. with services at noon at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home,
4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland, MD 20746 on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Interment is at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Md.
