ORIENTAL - Jacquelyn Ann Opgrand, 71, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 
Craven Regional Medical Center.
She and her husband, David, retired to Oriental in 1996 after an 18 year 
tenure with the Lutheran Church Headquarters in Chicago, IL. 
Most recently, she served as a volunteer at HOPE Clinic and was an active 
member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Oriental. Jackie enjoyed singing 
in the Pamlico Chorale and was active in the music ministry at St. Thomas. 
Having traveled to over 40 countries, she loved exploring new places, 
learning about different cultures and visiting with family and friends, 
both old and new.
She graduated in 1956 from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN with a 
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years; daughter, Cynthia, of Richmond,
VA; son, Paul, and his wife, Laura, their children, Christopher, Edward 
and Melinda, all of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Sally Damrau, of Waupaca, WI; 
aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clayton Werner, of Downing, WI.
A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm on December 5, 2005 at St. Thomas
Episcopal Church.
