James "Capt. Jimmie" Carawan, 78, of 249 Forest Park Circle, Bayboro, died
Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of Rock of Zion F.W.B. Church. He was also a member of the
VFW as well as the American Legion.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at Bryant Funeral
Home with the Rev. Michael Bryan officiating. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Bryant Funeral Home and
other times at the home.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Jim Carawan Jr. and wife, Eve, of
Alliance; daughter, Jammie Tyndall and husband, Mark, of Alliance; brother,
Roy Carawan and wife, Judy, of Chesapeake, Va.; three sisters, Fannie Selby
of Chester, Va., Verna Floyd and husband, Jack, of Virginia Beach, Va.,
and Metta Rich of Chesapeake, Va.; three grandchildren, David Johnston Jr.
and Kasey Tyndall, both of Alliance, and Amber Carawan of Jacksonville,
Fla.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hickman of Englewood, Fla.; and sister-in-law,
Mona Todd of Englewood, Fla.
