NEW BERN - James Bruce Fisher Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Two 
Rivers Healthcare-Neuse.  
He was a native of Vandemere and was honorably discharged from the U.S. 
Army. He was employed at Camp Lejeune Marine Base until retirement. His 
membership at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church included serving as an usher 
and pastor steward.  
His funeral will be at noon Saturday at the New Bern Eastern Missionary 
Baptist Association Headquarters, 885 N.C. 306 North, Grantsboro, with the 
Rev. Nathan Morris officiating and Rev. Freddie Hyman, Eulogist. The 
interment with military honors will be held at the Hudnell Cemetery.  
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria Sawyer Fisher of New Bern; 
six sons, Hiawatha Fisher of Marietta, Ga., Orlando Fisher of New Hanover, 
Md., Reginald Fisher of Florence, S.C., James Bruce Fisher Jr. of New 
Bern, Craig Fisher of Smyrna, Ga., Clinton Branch of Bayboro; four 
daughters, Cassandra Godette of Rocky Mount, Jennifer Newman of Durham, 
Cynthia Stewart of Rock Hill, S.C., and Linda Credle Bradford of New 
Jersey; three brothers, Frederick Fisher of Florence, S.C., Eddie Fisher 
and Willie Lee Fisher, both of Vandemere; 25 grandchildren; 21 
great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the New Bern Towers, 1125 Apt. 7 P, 
Walt Bellamy Drive and Oscar's Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Viewing 
will be at Oscar's Mortuary today from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.  
Arrangements are by Oscar's Mortuary Inc.
