LOWLAND - James Cornelius Grimes, 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at The 
Courtyards at Berne Village.  
He was a retired carpenter, farmer and inventor, a member of the Goose 
Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and a veteran of WWII.   
His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel 
with Milton Lupton with the Rev. Swade Benson officiating. Interment will 
follow at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.   
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Grimes of the home; two sons, 
James Ed Grimes of Greenville, Kevin Grimes of Ayden; two daughters, 
Connie Hudson of Williamston, Wanda Rivera of Goldsboro; two stepdaughters,
Katherine Golden and Barbara Cayton, both of Grantsboro; 13 grandchildren 
and 13 great-grandchildren.   
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral
Home.
