BAYBORO, NC - James Lloyd Lupton, Jr., 78, of Bayboro, departed this life
to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 17, 2006.
He was a member of the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Whortonsville
and attended Bayboro United Methodist Church. He worked with and supported
the Pamlico County Education Foundation and was a former member of the New
Bern Board of Realtors.
Born to James Lloyd and Mary Richardson Lupton in New Bern on the fifth
day of May 1927, James, the youngest of three, grew up in the community of
Whortonsville.
Upon graduation from high school, he entered the United States Navy. After
his return to Whortonsville, he married his childhood sweetheart, Sara
Hill. Together they raised their three children: a son and two daughters.
During the child-rearing years, James was employed by NARF, Cherry Point
and Woodmen of the World Life Insurance, retiring from both by the age of
55. Upon retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to begin a
construction and real estate business where he worked until his health
would no longer allow.
James will best be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather
and a friend to those that knew him. He also had a love for the ocean,
enjoying the smell of the salty air and the sound of waves crashing
against the sand. His family was his life. Even in later years, he
attended sporting events and other special occasions in support of his
family members.
A funeral service was held Thursday, January 19 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Free
Will Baptist Church in Whortonsville with the Reverend Steve Willis
officiating. Interment was in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara Hill Lupton; one son, J.
Bruce Lupton and wife, Dianne, of Stonewall; two daughters, Brenda L.
Stevenson of New Bern and Paula L. Woodard and husband, Alan, of Bayboro.

Lupton and wife, Laura, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Ashlynne Woodard and

Great-grandchildren include Kenlee Horner, John Patrick "J.P." Lupton, Jr.,
Aslynne Lupton and Madeline Lupton.

and a dear son-in-law, Joe C. Stevenson, Jr.
