Obituary of James Henry Mattocks ~ 2010

BLOUNTS CREEK - James Henry Mattocks, 67, of 17917 N.C. 33 East, died 
Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.  
He was a native of the Florence community of Pamlico County and was 
formerly employed with Coca-Cola and retired from the Sun Journal as the 
pressroom manager. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill 
Christian Church, Whortonville Road, with the Rev. James Ingram 
officiating. The interment will be in the Jones Family Cemetery. 
He is survived by his wife, Mary Battle Mattocks of the home; two sons, 
Dwight Mattocks of New Bern and Kenny Matthews of Norton, Mass.; two 
daughters, Marsha Davis of Bayboro and Tiffany Mattocks of Aurora; three 
brothers, Earl Mattocks and Walter Mattocks, both of Florence, and John 
Mattocks of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Clara Neely of Alexandria, 
Va.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  
The family will receive friends at the residence of Walter and Lois 
Mattocks, 1757 Whortonville Road in the Florence community of Merritt.  
Viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
Saturday at Oscar's Mortuary.
