Obituary of James E "Eddie" Williams Sr ~ 1997

James E "Eddie" Williams Sr., 73, of the 900 block of Basie Crescent, 
died Dec. 13, 1997, in Autumn Care of Portsmouth.  
Born in Oriental, N.C., he had retired as a mechanic with Norfolk Naval 
Air Station after 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran.  
Survivors include his wife, Doris L. Williams; a daughter, Virginia White 
of Toano, Va.; a son, James E. Williams Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a 
sister, Esther Knight of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; an aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws 
and friends. 
He was predeceased by his parents, Zoraty and Irvin Williams; and a son, 
Herman A. Williams.  
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Corprew Funeral Home 
Chapel, Portsmouth, by Bishop John R. Savage. Burial with military honors 
will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake. Viewing at the funeral 
home will begin at noon today.
