Obituary of Jean Gatlin Bowers ~ 1998

NEW BERN -- Mrs. Jean Gatlin Bowers, 70, of 705 Pine Tree Dr., died Thursday 
at Craven Regional Medical Center. A native of Pamlico County, Mrs. Bowers 
was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Iron Dukes, 
former member of American Nurses Association, and a former member of the 
N.C. Nurses Association. She was a graduate of St. Mary's College, as well 
as of Duke University School of Nursing in 1950.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 2:00 p.m. at 
Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Leonard Doucette 
officiating.
The interment will follow in the Gatlin family cemetery in Stonewall.
Mrs. Bowers is survived by her husband, Robert G. Bowers, of the home; 
three daughters, Susan Bowers Guptill and husband, Randy Guptill, of 
Durham, Lynda Bowers Sadler and husband, William Sadler, of Riverbend, and 
Sherri Bowers Richard and husband, Michael Richard, of New Bern; and five 
grandchildren, Robert Sadler, of Louisville, Ky., James and Chris Guptill, 
of Durham, and Rhiannon and Maegen Richard, of New Bern.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 8:30 at Pollock-Wells 
and Best Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 
Stonewall United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Fund, of Stonewall; 
or to the Trinity United Methodist Youth Fellowship, of New Bern.
